Message to Karl Rove
Dear Mr. Rove,
I'm no supporter of this administration, but I have a favor to ask of you nonetheless. Could you please keep President Bush away from any microphones for the next two years? I know, I know, I complain about secrecy in government and how bad it is, but I really can't take it anymore. I'd rather not have the President of my country saying things like this:
You know, I hear people say, well, civil war this, civil war that. The Iraqi people decided against civil war when they went to the ballot box.
The degree of callousness with which President Bush dismisses a situation in which 100 Iraqis a day are dying is breathtaking. Please don't let him speak anymore; I'd rather preserve some illusions about how little he knows or cares about anybody else.
